The specialization in “Adapted Physical Education” (APE) concerns in the developmental, motor and sensory disabilities in education.
The APE is an inter-disciplinary field, which is approached by different cognitive objects, such as physical education, sports, psychology, pedagogic, neurophysiology, neuropsychology and sociology.

Specialization’s issues are theoretical, inquiring and with practical applications mainly in general education, physical education and sports. Especially, APE focus in the study of developmental disorders, early detection, evaluation and educational intervention. Graduate students are taught and practice how to plan and prepare individual programs. Moreover, other applications could be the championship for individuals with disabilities, the exercise as mean of recreation and health, the prevention and reeducation of individuals who have been offended by illnesses and have missed their motor and athletic abilities, as well as individuals of third age.

The philosophy of specialization is focus in equal opportunities in the exercise for all persons with special needs. The graduates of APE, apart from the general education, can also work in Special Schools, in Units of special education, associations of athletes with disabilities as trainers, in programs of Mass Sports and recreation, in programs of re-establishment and rehabilitation of minority teams, in hospitals as members of therapeutic team and as executives of organization of athletic activities in special teams.
